Why block online casinos?
I clearly remember how gambling clubs and casinos were closed in our country. They promised to make game zones, but something came out of it, but something did not.
However, for some reason I was completely confident that on the Internet it all flourishes on a completely legal basis.
If we turn to history, we can recall that ...
... in Russia, the organization of online casinos has been banned since 2009, so legal online casinos are almost all licensed by the European gaming commissions and hosted in Europe. The federal law on the regulation of the organization and conduct of gambling in the Russian Federation punishes the owners of Russian online casinos with a fine, but does not prohibit the game itself on websites to ordinary people. However, starting from April 12, 2013 Roskomnadzor began to block foreign gambling sites.
In 2013, Roskomnadzor began to actively ban gambling sites by court decision, so, on March 23, 2013, 50 online casinos were blocked by a decision of the Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg.Among them are such major players as Pokerstars.com (and I played something like this), my.vlkslotzi.com (where all the Vulcan casinos are collected), William Hill and others.
Judging by the statements of State Duma deputies, the prospect of legalizing online casinos in Russia is rather vague. In Belarus, users themselves are penalized for playing at online casinos, which is quite effective from the point of view of the state. Another thing is blocking sites prohibited by Roskomnadzor. Its players easily get around with the help of simple technical tricks. This seems to be tired of fighting the Norwegian authorities, who promise to legalize online casinos in the near future. There, the authorities for several years blocked access to the sites of online casino operators and advertising. But nothing happened.
Norwegians, like Russians, easily bypass blocked websites of online casinos and enjoy playing on sites licensed by casinos in other countries. Even the threats did not help to prohibit banks from carrying out monetary operations with foreign casinos, since electronic payment systems are now a dime a dozen and it is not possible to regulate their work. So, probably in Norway, online gambling will soon win, and the state's treasury will be replenished with non-sickly taxes.True, the residents of this beautiful country still want to spoil the online game a little with small bans: the game restriction from 3 to 7 o'clock in the morning and the loss limit per month to 10 thousand kroons, which translates into 60 thousand rubles for our money.
It was not possible to completely ban online casinos in the United States. Two years ago, the authorities imposed a ban on gambling on the Internet, except for the state of Nevada and Delaware, but the American users, as well as in Russia, avoided the blocking without any particular difficulties. They even began to appear whole portals on which hackers posted detailed instructions on how to circumvent technical traps. Then in the US, payment systems were banned from accepting bets at online casinos and withdrawing winnings. And, nevertheless, many game magnates continue to struggle with state restrictions and come up with new ways of doing business. At the end of last year, gambling companies managed to get permission to play in online casinos to residents of New Jersey. All payments are taxed at fifteen percent in favor of the state budget, we add to this a fee for licenses to operate online casinos and income taxes, and as a result, the state will receive, according to the most conservative estimates of experts, several tens of millions of dollars a year.Today, almost all legal online casinos accept Russian payment systems like WebMoney, Yandex Money, Kiwi, etc. as a deposit and withdrawal method.
Meanwhile, in the UK, online games are alive and well. According to OnlinePoker.net, on average over the past three years, online gambling companies have a revenue of 2 billion pounds each, which is 80% more than in 2008. It is curious that more and more Britons are playing online casinos on their mobile devices. According to some estimates, the number of online players betting on smartphones and tablets is 40 percent. The state receives fabulous income taxes and society as a whole does not advocate limiting online gambling.
And from January to June 2018, we have blocked 22 thousand resources with illegal online games. This is two times more than in the same period last year, when 11 thousand such resources were closed on the Web.
Only at one of the casino sites, 902 “mirrors” were revealed, access to them is limited, they added to the service.
The resources with the help of which they organize and conduct gambling and lotteries on the Internet are entered into the Unified Register of Prohibited Information.Their identification is handled by the Federal Tax Service (FTS), and Roskomnadzor directly blocks.
Most of the closed pages are “mirrors” of online casino sites and illegal bookmakers, told the Federal Tax Service.
The number of blocked resources of this kind is constantly growing. The first decisions of the Federal Tax Service began to arrive in Roskomnadzor in 2015. Then access to 756 sites or pages was closed, in 2016 - already 13 thousand, in 2017 - 30.5 thousand
The increase in the number of blocked resources indicates both that the casinos are trying to open all new pages, and that the authorities, most likely, debugged the mechanism for searching for similar sites.
