Ukraine has adopted a law on 12-year schooling
Education Minister Lilia Grinevich on her Facebook page announced that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed the Law on Education, one of the most important points of which will be 12-year schooling.
For quite a long time, the information that the Ministry of Education plans to introduce a 12-year school education went word-of-mouth. And now, finally, it happened. Today the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted for the law "On Education", due to which the 12-year school will become a reality in the near future. At the same time, the term for obtaining a bachelor's degree will be reduced from four years to three.
In addition to the transition to 12-year schooling at school, the law says that teachers will not only undergo a five-year re-certification, as now, but will also receive certification to work on new standards. Teachers who pass it will receive a 20% salary increase.The law also provides that a teacher’s salary must be at least 4 living wages.
Teachers will get more freedom of action, they will be able to make individual plans, author's lessons.
School directors will no longer be appointed, but chosen through competitions. And you cannot be a director for more than two terms in a row, which is 12 years.
There is good news for home-owners. In the list of types of education there is also family (home) training. In school, children will be taught to work in a team and apply knowledge in practice.
Earlier, Lilia Grinevich said that the reform would cost the budget about 6 million euros, and the reform project itself was designed for four years.
