Researchers from the ARIA (Advanced Rapid Imaging and Analysis project) project created a map showing how the surface of the Lombok Island changed as a result of the earthquake. For this, they used data collected by the radars of the Sentinel-1A and Sentinel-1B satellites. Sentinel-1A filmed the island on July 30 (before the earthquake), Sentinel-1B - immediately after the earthquake.

The map clearly demonstrates that the epicenter of the earthquake was located off the northwestern coast of the island. It caused the surface to rise to a height of 25 cm. The white areas on the map correspond to areas where radar measurements could not be taken. Basically, these are areas overgrown with dense jungle.
